DIGITAL AGEING - How to prevent it!

Whether we are at work, studying, or just relaxing in front of a screen, our daily life is constantly accompanied by what scientists call the “blue light” – a type of light that studies have shown to cause premature skin damage. If we take a minute considering the extent of our daily exposure to digital devices (how often do we fiddle with our smartphone?), we realise how widespread and normalised their compulsive use has become. Some call it “the evil of the 21st century”. We need to reckon with the constant exposure to the blue light – starting by becoming aware of its consequences. Not only does digital overexposure affect our posture, quality of sleep and concentration ability, it is also detrimental to the health and beauty of our skin. The electromagnetic waves from our computers, smartphones and tablets raise the temperature in water-rich body tissues such as the skin, causing collagen fibres to deteriorate and increasing oxidative stress.

These effects can be countered, first and foremost, by following some basic rules. These include maintaining a good posture and adequate distance between our face and the screen, lowering brightness in our devices, drinking plenty of fluids and eating foods that are rich in antioxidants. Specific supplements may also help to provide the body with the necessary weapons to fight back. ADLER food supplements are rich in vitamins, minerals, unsaturated fatty acids and herbal complexes with strong antioxidant properties. The new MultiVit supplements from the Vitality line and the OmegaTop supplements from the Longevity line are especially recommended to prevent digital ageing. This is a good start, but to truly prevent premature ageing we need to take things a step further. Just as with sun exposure, an adequate skincare routine can help protect the skin from blue light damage. We can achieve this by using products that provide adequate protection and hydration during the day, and repair the damaged collagen fibres during the night.

The Regeneration DNA by ADLER SPA Active Cosmetics is a product line containing senna alata, phytomelatonin, hyaluronic acid and vitamins E and F. Its advanced formula is specifically designed to protect the skin from environmental damage while also regenerating it by targeting cell DNA. The Regeneration line comprises eye and face cream, serum, moisturising mask and a delightful body oil. Never underestimate the importance of your daily skincare routine – taking good care of yourself is not an option, it's an obligation. You owe it to yourself.
